Ross Power, born 25 June 1981, studied classical piano, violin and voice from an early age. After receiving choral training through his teens and turning to jazz shortly before reading music at Goldsmiths College in 1999, he graduated with a Bmus hons in 2002. With a family background steeped in both Folk and Sacred music, Ross’ talents flourished though musical theatre and orchestral performances from an early age, giving him a sense of space, texture and a greater respect for the orchestral machine.
Having worked with the likes of Volvo, Mazda, Disney, BBC, Sarah Parish, Jim Cartwright and more recently Matt Lucas (Little Britain) and Paul Abbott (Shameless), Ross has accomplished a great deal of range in his compositional Palette. Incorporating styles and influences from the Middle East with electronic and orchestral timbres has been a more recent adventure with International Edinburgh Film Festival Film Council Entrant ‘The Chapel’. Appearing in Cannes’ Short Corner 2009, ‘Memorabilis’ took a more passionate and dark turn for the end reveal again mixing the electronic palette with Chamber strings and the Ukulele. Power ultimately aims to be working with visionary directors who have a message to communicate. A truly dedicated composer, Ross works hard to ensure the finest quality in composition and production, employing the highest regarded musicians, conductors and engineers.
